You will probably have many demands on you, things to do, decisions to make. Along with social media, busy lives, and work commitments, it's easy for your mind to feel full and messy. As a result you are rarely living in the moment as your mind is distracting you from what is going on right now.
Mindfulness techniques help you calm your thoughts, allowing you to recognise where you are, how you are feeling, and not to feel overwhelmed by all of the things that are happening around you. These techniques also help you to listen to and respond to what your body is telling you.
There are many ways in which you can use mindfulness techniques. Taking a few minutes to sit with your eyes closed and being aware of your breathing can be very calming. Therapeutic writing, drawing, doodling, or colouring are also effective ways of focusing your mind on one activity, bring clarity to your thinking.
