What is the role of the therapist?

The role of the therapist is to provide you with a safe environment in which you can explore the challenges and issues that you are facing. The therapist will be attempting to understand your feeling and emotions, and will share this understanding with you. Nothing that you explore will be judged, the therapist will accept everything you discuss and accept you for who you are.
As the therapist shares their understanding of your situation, this will help you understand and accept who you are. You will begin to become more aware of the demands and expectations others have of you. This greater sense of self awareness will increase your self esteem and confidence, putting you in a stronger position to cope with what is challenging you.
